As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial & Investment Bank, Payments Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Extensive experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java applications and related technologies such as Kafka and Oracle.
  • Proven expertise in distributed computing, with a deep understanding of scalability, availability, and consistency concerns.
  • Strong system architecture skills, capable of designing and implementing robust, high-performance systems.
  • Ability to establish and manage application contracts with other systems interacting with our payment system.
  • Demonstrated leadership in owning and managing a large portfolio of applications, with the ability to oversee 90+ applications effectively.
  • Experience in payment systems or financial technology, with a solid understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges and drive innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and microservices architecture, with a focus on building scalable and resilient systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality code standards and practices, with a focus on performance optimization and security.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with advanced data processing and analytics using technologies such as Apache Spark or Hadoop, enhancing the ability to handle large-scale data within payment systems.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, to streamline development and deployment processes.
  • Prior experience in leading cross-functional teams and projects, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and drive strategic initiatives.
