Environmental Scientist or Geologist role at WSP in the U.S. – Minneapolis, Minnesota or Duluth, Minnesota. Role Overview WSP is initiating a search for an Environmental Scientist or Geologist to support field investigation projects with the Earth & Environment Team. This role involves assisting with due diligence, subsurface investigation, remediation projects, field investigations, and documentation of field conditions. Tasks may include geophysical surveys, collecting environmental samples (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor), site exploration, and geologic logging using various drilling techniques. Responsibilities With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil, soil gas, groundwater, stormwater, boring logs, and other matrices for projects and investigations. Review, integrate, collect data, and perform quality control for geologic, hydrogeologic, and other databases. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements and analysis. Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software. Adhere to safety guidelines and site-specific procedures, including documentation of samples, lab procedures, and field/work site logs. Assist with maintaining and calibrating equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and inventory control. Assist with well installation monitoring, remediation-system pilot testing, installation, operation, and maintenance. Support environmental risk identification and assessment, contributing input for low-level threat mitigation and remediation projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work and assist with field work permitting and work plan preparation. Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Qualifications BS or BA in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, or Environmental Science. 1 to 3 years of experience working as a Geologist. Familiar with environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audiences. Detail-oriented with the ability to self-lead and prioritize in a dynamic environment; able to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and related tools. Commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow health, safety, and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek and travel as required by projects. Physical Demands: ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods across varied terrain. Must pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a respirator; must pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. Preferred Qualifications Completion of 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training. Compensation and Benefits Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $60,000 - $88,000.
