Job Description
Design Fire Protection and/or Alarm Systems for projects including Industrial, Federal, Military, and OCONUS DoS facilities.

Designs layout and calculation of various types of fire protection systems including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, and deluge fire suppression systems, fire pumps, and storage tanks on a wide variety of projects types.
Design layouts of fire detection and alarm systems.
Working directly with our fire protection engineers, you will interprets architectural and structural drawings and specifications to develop complete fire protection design packages in accordance with the contract documents, building codes, and applicable NFPA Standards.
Create system designs in Autocadd, HydraCADD, or other similar software.
Participates in BIM 3D Modeling coordination when necessary Performs hydraulic calculations (HydraCADD or similar) Assist engineers in conducting field survey prior to design.
Compiles stock lists, and prepares field installation drawings.
Assists field personnel in resolving design related installation issues Applies sound fire protection engineering principles to troubleshoot and solve client related issues Performs other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: No Required: At least 3 years related design experience.
Must be willing to train newer designers.
Must be able to work independently, but must be willing to reach out for help when needed.
Must show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills Strong communication and research skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail Working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting software and HydraCAD (or similar) sprinkler design software Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e.
DMV, criminal history) Must be eligible to receive a Secret secturity clearance (US Citizen with clean record) Must be willing to make occasional internation trips.
Must have physical capability for field investigations: climbing ladders, walking buildings, viewing existing conditions Work Environment: Works in a professional engineering office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment Position will require occasional visits to construction sites Physical Demands: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and plotters Travel: May require infrequent travel.
Alhough we are a small company, we have projects all over the world.
Most are in the eastern half of the US, but some are in South America, Asia, The Carribean, and the Middle East.
Preferred: Field installation experience NICET Level II or higher preferred Knowledge of special suppression systems such as foam, water spray, water mist, clean agent, wet/dry chemical, and carbon dioxide a plus Knowledge of fire alarm system layout
