Position Overview
The HVAC Service Manager will provide leadership and oversight of field service operations, ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations. This role involves supervising technicians, conducting quality control reviews, supporting equipment startups, and resolving technical challenges. The manager will also be responsible for scheduling, profitability tracking, training, and customer satisfaction, serving as a key connection between the field and management teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate daily service activities, including technician scheduling, resource planning, and project oversight.
Conduct quality control inspections to verify workmanship meets company and client standards.
Manage system startups, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical support for HVAC equipment.
Guide and mentor service technicians, providing on-the-job training and assisting with complex projects.
Coordinate weekend and after-hours work as required by customer needs.
Plan and direct field service activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Handle procurement of equipment and materials, while monitoring subcontractor activities and customer communications.
Assist with project pricing, scope definition, and cost reviews to ensure profitability.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, inspections, and compliance records.
Collaborate with sales and account management teams to identify additional service opportunities.
Support customer training sessions and owner orientations for installed systems.
Ensure adherence to company safety programs, procedures, and standards.
Manage project closeout processes, inspections, and final approvals.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the service department.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in HVAC service or mechanical systems, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment startup, and troubleshooting practices.
Skilled in contract administration, project documentation, and financial performance tracking.
Effective leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams.
Proven ability to make sound decisions independently and manage complex situations.
Familiarity with safety regulations, quality standards, and ISO procedures.
