Spurwink Mission Spurwink is a non-profit organization that responds to community needs by providing behavioral health care, substance use disorder services, and support services for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, as well as their families. Internship Details: Start Date: Monday, January 5, 2026 Monday, January 5th through Thursday, January 8th will be fully in-person. Remainder of internship is hybrid or remote, depending on where you are attending school. End Date: Varies from the end of February to March Hours per week: 8 to 15 hours Schedule: We will work around your classes to meet the required hours. Responsibilities of the Human Resources Department: The Human Resources and Professional Development department's diverse responsibilities include employee relations, recruitment, training, benefits, compensation, health, and safety. Human Resources employees collect, review, and process pre-employment paperwork; conduct background screenings; create and maintain employee personnel records; and help develop content for Spurwink's internal communications. Additionally, HR employees attend recruitment events throughout the year to attract top talent for their organization. Intern Responsibilities: As an intern, you will have the opportunity to assist the Human Resources team with various tasks within their department. You will meet weekly as a cohort to help form camaraderie, share your experiences, and learn from knowledgeable Spurwink employees. Requirements: Ability to commute to the Greater Portland area during the first full week of January. Have an interest in Human Resources and professional development. Experience with Microsoft 365. Create a capstone project sharing educational goals, skills learned, and your experiences. Attend an online weekly meeting with a supervisor. Have an interest in working for a non-profit organization. Qualifications: Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the work in the department and the mission of Spurwink Services.
