This is a skilled position responsible for the efficient and well-executed performance of a variety of building, installation, maintenance, and repair tasks requiring good knowledge of one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repair, welding, sheet metal work, automotive mechanics, masonry, sewage facilities maintenance and municipal water distribution systems. Independent judgment is exercised in choosing methods or procedures when completing work assignments.
Typical Duties:
Makes, assembles, installs, maintains, repairs, and rebuilds furniture and wood fixtures, including doors, stairs, walls, floors, desks, chairs, shelves, tables, cabinets, and other wood items.
Installs, maintains, and repairs a wide variety of plumbing equipment and systems, including sewers.
Installs, maintains, and repairs a wide variety of electrical fixtures and equipment.
Prepares, paints, and refinishes wood, metal, and other surfaces.
Performs a wide variety of steam-fitting, forging, welding, sheet metal fabricating, or machine activities.
Mixes and lays cement and concrete for walks, steps, floors, foundations, plasters walls, partitions, ceilings, cuts stone, lays bricks and blocks, and performs a wide variety of related masonry and stone-cutting activities.
Operates light trucks and ground-keeping machinery.
Performs a wide variety of mechanical repairs on autos, trucks, tractors, and other mechanical equipment.
Erects fences, bleachers, and goalposts; repairs sprinklers and drainage systems; installs playground and athletic equipment.
Builds, reseeds, top-dresses, grades, and marks athletic fields.
Job Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in general building construction, maintenance, or repair in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc.
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
Possession of a valid driver’s license
