Gather Around Nutrition is looking to expand our chef network! We are a private chef company that provides healthy meal prep services to individuals & families in the Portland area, with a seasonal, farm-to-table focus. We are fundamentally a wellness company, and most of our chefs have some training in nutrition.
Here's what it looks like to join our chef network:
We pair you with clients based on your skills/experience, availability, and proximity to the client.
We train you on meal prepping, menu development and how to be the best personal chef you can be!
We provide you with essential job supplies like storage containers, labels, packaging materials, and catering supplies, as well as resources like menu templates & access to wholesale pricing.
We take care of the billing for clients so you can just focus on cooking!
We are always available for support.
You are covered under our insurance policy when doing work through Gather Around Nutrition.
Our typical client:
Our clients are within Portland metro area and also regions including Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and Vancouver WA
We ask our clients if they prefer their meals be prepared in their own kitchen, or prepared off-site & delivered. Most clients prefer delivery-style. This means you will be cooking from your own kitchen at home (communally shared kitchens are not a good fit).
Most of our clients receive weekly services, typically Monday through Wednesday, although other days are possible too.
Many of our clients have various dietary restrictions, or are on specific therapeutic diets.
We are looking for chefs with:
Professional culinary experience, with the ability to create new weekly menus and execute them with confidence and ease.
Nutrition knowledge & a basic understanding of various therapeutic diets.
Regular access to a clean and well-stocked kitchen.
Availability to maintain at least 3 clients per week, preferably with days earlier in the week (Mon-Weds).
Have a current drivers license and reliable transportation.
Great communication skills in maintaining consistent communication with clients about menus and scheduling.
How we pay:
We pay our weekly meal prep chefs at a flat rate based on service charges and reimbursements. This is based on a rate of $30/hour your first year, then increases to $35/hour the following years. We pay our chefs on a weekly bases.
Our chefs are 1099 independent contractors. While there is no guarantee of work, our chefs typically have as much work as they want.
