Job Title:
Pipe Fitter
Summary: Provides piping services and expertise across the plant on the full range of piping materials, situations and activities. Performs start-to-finish pip fitting work on projects and maintains piping systems through the different plant areas.
This is a non-exempt Union position. The starting pay range is $39.99 - $43.58 per hour, depending upon experience.
Responsibilities Include: - Responsible for the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation of piping, heat exchangers, vessels, columns, valves, and equipment.

- Install pipe and related materials per specifications, engineering standards, etc.
\n
- Identify the sequence of installation activities.
\n
- Prepare, assemble, and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipes.
\n
- Join pipe by threaded, welded, flanged, glued or bell and spigot soldered joints.
\n
- Test piping system for leaks.
\n
- Diagnose and correct maintenance related process difficulties using instruments, experience, and knowledge.
\n
- Assist welders with fit up.
\n
- Properly support piping with structural steel, hangers, brackets, etc.
\n
- Follow and comply with Multi Skill Maintenance Agreements and Quality Maintenance Material Guidelines.

- Update equipment records by submitting work order comments, stores modification, etc.
\n
- Perform specified equipment inspection, compare findings with acceptance criteria and document findings.
\n
- Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
\n
- Coordinate and/or perform housekeeping and safety monitoring and ensure adequate follow-up, as required.
\n
- Follow all Standard Operating and Business Procedures, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Guidelines, Plant Standards and Codes including the development of Procedures in job classification.
\n
- Safely assist with other maintenance craftwork when needed.
\n
- Participate in area and business improvement activities, quality, mechanical integrity, and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance activities.
\n
- Train and guide other employees in the assigned areas and receive training as necessary.
\n
- Participate in teams and group based activities focused on continuous improvements, consistent with Management and Contractual needs and objectives.
\n
- Participate and provide input, on a voluntary basis, into Manager and Leader/Supervisor annual performance evaluations through anonymous processes consistent with contractual requirements.
\n
- Properly fill, label, and position all hazardous and non-hazardous waste in identified storage/pickup areas.
\n
- Enter, retrieve, document, communicate, and analyze data (i.e., process, inventory, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental, etc.), using computer application programs (i.e., Profs, TSW). New application programs are planned and would be part of this job.
\n
- Understand, initiate, review, approve, and apply change control.
\n
- Perform other tasks as necessary within skills and training to support the manufacturing and sale of products.
\n
Qualifications: The following are required for the role - Written and verbal skills to communicate and applicable math skills.
\n
- Ability to pass a qualifying test and maintain journeyman status in piping services.
\n
- Knowledge and expertise of the piping trade and familiarity with all applicable piping standards, materials, and applications.
\n
- Knowledge of pipe fitting techniques, methods, procedures, and ability to read drawings, including isometric drawings and blueprints, plan and elevation drawings and sketches.
\n
- Experience with piping materials such as carbon steel, PVC, lined piping, stainless, etc.
\n
- Ability to use a variety of tools and techniques such as pipe threading, flange flaring, weld fit up, heat exchanger tube plugging, teflon pipe fabrication, etc.
\n
- Proficiency in the use of maintenance crafts equipment and tools and material handling equipment such as, but not limited to marklift, hand tools, power tools, test equipment, etc. as required.
\n
- General knowledge of chemicals and their general properties.
\n
- Knowledge and application of safety, environmental, maintenance, and quality guidelines, standards, codes, and procedures.
\n
- Ability to effectively utilize personal and mainframe computers, as applicable.
\n
- Ability to train and guide other employees in assigned areas.
\n
- Ability to work heights and in enclosed spaces.
\n
- Valid drivers license required to drive a plant transport vehicle (i.e., automobile/van, pickup truck, flatbed).
\n
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodation.
\n
- Must have satisfactory work record.
\n
