Salary Information: $29.88 - $38.88 Hourly

The City of West Linn Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Recruit Police Officer. This role involves law enforcement duties aimed at maintaining public peace and order, protecting life and property, and preventing crime. The position requires enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, with responsibilities in both patrol and investigative activities. Public relations and crime prevention are also integral parts of this role.

NTN Testing: Complete the required NTN Frontline testing and personal questionnaire through the National Testing Network (NTN). If you have taken a valid and current test within six months of your application date, you may submit that instead of retaking the NTN exam.

Job Requirements:

Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license from any state at the time of appointment.
Language Skills: Must be able to read and speak English.
Minimum Qualifications:

Experience as a reserve officer who has successfully completed DPSST certified reserve academy training, or as a civilian or military law enforcement officer with at least one year of experience, is a plus.
Must obtain basic certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) within one year of appointment.
Candidates selected who have not graduated from the DPSST Academy will be placed in the Recruit classification. Upon graduation and after one year of satisfactory performance, the Recruit Officer will be eligible for promotion to the Police Officer classification.
Candidates must pass all medical, physical, written, oral, and psychological examinations.
