Job Description

A physical therapy professional is needed to provide specialized services within two K-12 school sites serving students aged 8 to 21 years old in West Hartford, CT. This position runs from September 2, 2025, to June 12, 2026, with a focus on supporting students with diverse needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Seizure Disorders, Genetic Syndromes (such as Fragile X), Metabolic Disorders, dual diagnoses, and those preparing for vocational transition at age 22. The program emphasizes a behavioral approach grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments and design individualized physical therapy plans aligned with student IEP goals.
• Provide direct therapy and consultative services across multiple school environments.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including educators, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and vocational staff.
• Facilitate students functional mobility, safety, and independence in academic and vocational settings.
• Maintain thorough documentation of services and progress in accordance with school and state regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Connecticut Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain the license before the start date.
• Experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
• Dedication to inclusive and student-centered therapeutic practices.

Schedule and Contract Details:

• Full school days, Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week; part-time candidates will be considered.
• School year contract from September 2, 2025, to June 12, 2026.
