Staff Accountant

Shift/Hours:  Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
Pay Rate: $20 /hr 
Location:  Fort Myers, FL
Experience: 2+ Years

Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping & General Ledger: Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss Statements, and Cash Flow Reports.

• Month/Year-End Close: Execute timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Compliance & Tax: Compute and prepare tax payments and returns (e.g., sales tax, payroll tax, working with external CPA for corporate tax filings), ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Budgeting & Analysis: Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.

• Payroll: Oversee and process payroll accurately and on time, including managing employee expense reports.

• Audits: Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.

• Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.

 

Staff Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.

• 2 years of proven working experience as an Accountant or in a relevant field, preferably in a small business environment.

• Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).

• Advanced MS Excel skills.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and communicate complex financial information clearly.
