Tax Accountant

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Tax Accountant to join our San Francisco-based team. Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, this individual contributor role will lead tax project management, serve as an important partner to teams and ensure compliance across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional who excels in a collaborative environment, drives process improvement, and is eager to contribute to efforts that support the broader finance organization.

About the Job

• Assist the Head of Tax in overseeing tax-related projects, ensuring execution by managing project status, deliverables, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with Tax, Controllership, Legal, Finance and other departments to align priorities, and address challenges. Transparency and accountability with partners.
• Develop, document, and maintain tax and accounting policies, ensuring compliance with current laws, regulations, and internal standards.
• Analyze legislative and regulatory changes; assist the broader tax team to assess the possible effects and communicate relevant updates to partners.
• Implement process improvement opportunities using technology and other tools to enhance efficiency while maintaining control. Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance with tax-related controls and documentation.
• Prepare tax technical and accounting memorandums.
• Review U.S. international tax compliance forms prepared by accounting firm, including Forms 5471, 8858, 1118 and the 8900 series forms.
• Help with Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT and FTC analyses.
• Collaborate with external advisors, auditors and other teams to address complex tax/accounting matters.
• You will report to the VP of Global Tax.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Taxation. Master's degree in taxation preferred.
• CPA license required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax and public accounting, with exposure to project management, SOX and policy development.
• Experience with U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance and reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with FASB standards to support policy and memo development.
• Translate complex tax topics for non-tax stakeholders.
• Experience with as many of the following technologies as possible: SAP, Oracle HFM and HTP, OneSource Income Tax, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau and Alteryx and robotics process automation, and excel power user.
• Working knowledge with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
• Independent learner with the ability to adopt and evolve quickly.
• Experience in retail or wholesale industries preferred.

This is a hybrid position based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters. You will be expected in office 3 days per week typically Tuesday-Thursday. Note, time in office can vary depending on our needs.

The expected starting salary range for this role is $98,000 - $147,000 per year. We may pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and our needs.
