Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift ICU position requiring a WV or compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in a 20-bed ICU within an acute care hospital setting
• Unit serves medical, surgical, and neuro ICU populations and handles some cardiac cases
• Patient ratios are 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 in Stepdown, with the ICU also supporting some Stepdown needs
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm - 7:30 am)
• Every other weekend and potential holiday rotation required
• Unit uses Epic EMR and Phillips cardiac monitors with central monitoring
• Equipment includes Braun IV pumps for conscious sedation and Servo & Hamilton ventilators managed by RT
• Block scheduling is typically available for night shifts
• Designated Charge RN present 24/7, may take a patient if necessary
• Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU
• Provide direct patient care for a diverse ICU population including post cath lab and some balloon pumps
• No open heart or CRRT cases on the unit
• First day includes hospital orientation followed by 1-2 shifts of unit-based precepted orientation
• Capstone students and nurse externs may work on the unit but are not counted towards staffing numbers
• Pulmonary critical care intensivist in-house during the day and hospitalist at night
• RT and pharmacy both available onsite 24/7
• Required to wear navy blue scrubs with navy or white jackets; white or navy undershirts; hair must be a natural color and tattoos must be covered
• No local travelers are accepted
• Former employees or travelers must have a 2-year separation from any WVU Medicine facility before being reconsidered

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current certifications in BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS required; PALS preferred, TNCC preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing for ICU unit assignment
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered
