About The Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience License: Must obtain required license before contract begins Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and/or 2 years comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital - Ability to read and interpret strips Description: This is a fast-paced ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders including seizures and strokes. The unit serves as a comprehensive stroke center. The nurse will also treat overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU. Travelers will float at the discretion of management. Assignments may include floating to other campuses within the system. Nurses must be available to work every other weekend and holidays. The position may be canceled due to low census with appropriate notice provided. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application. Approval of time off will be at the manager's discretion. All applications must include necessary documents for review. No references are required. Module hours may need to be completed during orientation and annually thereafter. Candidates with any state RN license can apply, and temporary licenses can be obtained. The facility does not accept any past license actions. Patient age groups served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The unit has a daily census of approximately 28 patients with 36 available beds. Common patient diagnoses include ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and other neurological disorders. Bedside procedures performed include EVD placement and central line placement among others. Special equipment used in the unit includes ICP monitoring and EEG monitors.
